A security deposit is a temporary hold on your credit card to cover potential damages. Since the deposit amount is primarily based on the chosen car category, insurance coverage, rental duration, and terms and policies, it varies for each booking.

The deposit is pre-authorised on your credit card at pickup and released after the car is returned in the same condition as you picked it up. Prepaid and debit cards may not be accepted for the deposit hold.

Nearly all rentals are offered with unlimited mileage. But a mileage cap may apply to driving certain vehicle types to specified locations. A per-kilometre fee is usually charged for driving a vehicle with a limited mileage policy. Refer to the ‘What is Included!’ section to know whether a deal comes with unlimited mileage.

Third Party Liability is mandatory for all vehicles in Croatia and is always included with rental cars. Standard deals often also offer Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection, but may still leave you financially responsible for the excess.

A full-to-full fuel policy is usually followed for Alamo rentals at airport locations in Croatia, under which you receive the car with a full tank and must return it full. The same can be same-to-same for bookings made for Alamo’s city centre branches.

⚠️ Returning with less than a full tank results in a refuelling charge above market rate, plus a service fee. Fill up at a nearby petrol pump before returning the car, and keep the receipt safe as proof.

After-hours returns are usually available for Alamo car rentals at major Croatian airports. The service must be arranged and confirmed with the supplier beforehand. Once approved, you can simply park the car in the designated car park area and return the keys and the contract to the Alamo drop-box.

ℹ️ Since most companies operate 24/7 at airport rental counters, after-hours returns are usually free. But an additional €25-€50 fee may apply for out-of-office returns to city-centre or downtown branches.

Yes. One-way rentals between different Croatian cities and airports are available with Alamo. A drop-off fee applies based on your chosen car type and one-way route. Use your travel details to view deals available for your preferred locations and required vehicle.

Cross-border car rentals are possible with prior authorisation from the Alamo branch where you booked. You must also obtain a written approval for travel when collecting the car. An additional cross-border fee and insurance are generally required based on your vehicle type and destination.

🚫 Driving a hired car across the border without the supplier’s written approval negates your insurance and incurs hefty penalties. This further leaves you fully responsible for all costs related to vehicle damage and third-party claims. Any additional drivers must also be listed on the rental agreement for the insurance to remain valid and effective.

Optional extras may include infant seats, child seats, booster seats, GPS navigation devices and other equipment, depending on the rental location and vehicle availability. All extras should be requested when making your reservation and are subject to an additional charge. The available options and their prices are displayed during the booking process.

⚠️ Winter tyres are mendatory from 15 November to 15 April in Croatia. Check whether they are already included in the base rate or offered as a separate add-on, depending on the branch.

A Green Card is generally not required for travelling within the EU and the EEA, including Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, and Italy. But it may be mendatory for driving from Croatia into Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Albania – none of which are EU members. Regardless of destination, ask the supplier for a Green Card at pickup.
