ACI Marina Korčula Overview
About ACI Marina Korčula, Croatia
ACI Marina Korčula is situated on the eastern harbour of Korčula Town, immediately outside the medieval walls of the Old Town. It’s one of the bases in the ACI (Adriatic Croatia International Club) network along the Croatian coast and serves as a stop for private yachts, charter boats, and flotillas year-round. The marina is right against the Korčula Old Town, which is only a couple of minutes’ walk away, and the cathedral bell tower is visible from the boats.
The marina is relatively small by ACI network standards. Since there is no airport on the island itself, those arriving by air use the nearest Dubrovnik’s Čilipi Airport, around 130 km away by road and ferry combined. This makes onward travel from the marina a deciding factor in most visitors’ planning, more so than in Split, no matter by rental car, ferry, or catamaran.

Flexible Island Travel
Rent a Car at ACI Marina Korčula
Getting to Korčula Island, with no bridge to the mainland, and around depends on decisions that a rental car solves quite efficiently. Most visitors reach the marina via Dubrovnik’s Čilipi Airport by ferry at Orebić on the Pelješac peninsula. Korčula lets you in on vineyards, quiet fishing villages like Lumbarda and Račišće, and beaches that ferries and water taxis don’t reach. These can be easily covered on day trips using a comfortable self-drive car hire of your choice. Booking through us lets you choose from a diverse selection of car categories to suit different travel group sizes and budgets.
Having a vehicle available at all times makes travelling between places comfortable and easy. Since one-way deals are offered within Croatia and to neighbouring EU countries, you don’t have to backtrack all the way to your starting point. Find the perfect car for your next trip by comparing the best deals from both local and international rental companies to secure below-average rates. Make sure you book early when planning a summertime trip in July or August to enjoy better availability.

Car Rental Tips
Before you pick up the car
Best Time to Book
Pro tip
Avoid July and August peak pricing. January, March, November and December offer the lowest daily rates in Croatia.
Fuel & Mileage Policy
Watch out
Always choose a “full to full” fuel policy with unlimited mileage — saves money on return and eliminates mileage concerns.
Benefit from Optional Add-ons
Must do
Enhance your trip with child seats, GPS, winter tyres, snow chains, WiFi or an additional driver at affordable extra cost.
Book in Advance
Required
Reserving early secures below-average rates and gives you access to a wider selection of vehicle categories.
Select the Right Car Category
Mostly city driving? An economy or compact car keeps fuel costs low and suits tighter budgets and narrow Croatian roads.
Comparison is Key
Use our platform to compare prices, ratings, reviews and inclusions across leading suppliers to find the best fit for your budget.
Driving tips
On the road from Split ACI Korčula
Don’t drive into the Old Town
No vehicle zone
The walled centre of Korčula is pedestrian-only. Park the car at a nearby public lot and walk in.
Pelješac Bridge is the mainland link
Watch out
Most road traffic to Korčula crosses Pelješac rather than the old car ferry routes.
Orebić–Dominče ferry still runs for the short island hop
Ferry crossing
The short and most direct car ferry route to the island. Refill on Pelješac before crossing.
Narrow and winding island road
Mountain driving
The main island road has narrow curves that slow you down. Allow more time than the map distance suggests.
Manual cars are standard
Rental fleets are usually manual transmission. Book early if you specifically need an automatic.
Choose a smaller car
Narrow streets
Villages in the inner area have narrow lanes without signposts, making it difficult to drive a large vehicle.

🏢
Where can I find car rental desks at the ACI Marina Korčula?
There are no dedicated car hire counters at the marina. Visitors arriving by sea collect a vehicle from suppliers located within a 5–10-minute walk of Korčula Town. The majority of them offer delivery to Korčula Marina or to a designated nearby spot.
✅ Ask the supplier about a marina delivery or a pickup at the nearest location before booking.
✈️
Which is the nearest airport to ACI Marina Korčula?
Korčula Island has no dedicated airport. Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) is the nearest airport to the island, followed by Split Airport (SPU). You can take a car ferry across. Driving routes require you to reach the Pelješac Peninsula and take the short vehicle ferry from Orebić to Dominče (the port for Korčula Town is just 3 km from the marina).
🚗
Do I really need a car to visit Korčula?
Not if you’re staying in Korčula Old Town or at the marina, as you can easily explore the town on foot. Since the old town is pedestrian-only, a car is not a practical option there anyway. But you will find a vehicle useful for visiting Lumbarda’s beaches and wineries, and for enjoying drives across the island to Vela Luka. You can also take the ferry to Pelješac for places like Ston and Orebić. Reaching remote coves is hardly an option by bus.
✅ Marina guests usually choose a one- or two-day rental, during which they spend time on the boat or in town before renting a car for the day to explore the inner island and western beaches, then returning it at the end of the trip.
⛴️
What passenger ferry can I use to reach Korčula Town?
To reach Korčula Town, foot passengers take fast passenger catamarans or small passenger ferries, which drop you off right at the Old Town port. For vehicle ferries, you must use the car ferry to the Domniče port (3 km away) or Vela Luka (50 km away).
| Route | Type | Journey Time | Seasonal? |
| Split → Korčula Town (via Hvar) | Catamaran (foot only) | ~3 hrs | Year-round; more frequent Jun–Sep |
| Dubrovnik → Korčula Town | Catamaran (foot only) | ~2.5–3 hrs | Seasonal; roughly May–Oct |
| Orebić → Korčula Town | Passenger boat (foot only) | ~10 min | Year-round; near-hourly in season |
| Hvar → Korčula | Catamaran (foot only) | ~1.5 hrs | Seasonal |
ℹ️ These routes land next to the ACI Marina in Korčula Town. Some rental companies are just a 5-minute walk from here, so you can easily pick up a car or pre-arrange delivery.
⛵
Is ACI Marina Korčula the same as Korčula Port?
No. Korčula Town’s harbour is split into two parts. ACI Marina Korčula is located right against the Old Town walls on the eastern side. The western side handles the town’s ferry and catamaran quay. Although a short walk apart around the peninsula, both are separate facilities with separate access points.
🚧
Are there tolls near ACI Marina Korčula?
Korčula Island has no toll roads. You will come across mainland routes and ferry crossings.
| Route / Crossing | Toll? | Approx. Cost |
| Korčula island roads (any) | No | — |
| Dominče ↔ Orebić (car ferry) | Ferry fare | From ~€16 per car (passenger + vehicle) |
| Vela Luka ↔ Split (car ferry) | Ferry fare | From ~€73 per car |
| Pelješac Bridge (to/from Dubrovnik) | Yes | ~€7–10 per vehicle |
| A1 motorway toward Split / Zagreb | Yes | Varies by entry/exit point |
✅ The Pelješac Bridge toll is paid in cash (euros accepted) or by card at staffed booths. Keep small bills accessible. The ENC electronic tag system is available on all Croatian motorways but is rarely practical to arrange for a short holiday rental.
🚘
Is driving easy for visitors in Korčula?
Driving on the island is generally manageable, but the roads can be narrower and more winding than those on the mainland. D118 is the main route on the island and has limited overtaking room. Entry to the Old Town streets is restricted to pedestrians only; no vehicles are allowed.
| Route | Condition | Notes |
| Korčula Town → Vela Luka (main D118) | Good | Winding but well-maintained; allow ~50 min |
| Korčula Town → Lumbarda | Good | 7 km; straightforward; heavy in summer |
| North coast to Račišće | Moderate | Scenic but narrow; tight bends; single-track sections |
| Tracks to remote beaches (Vaja, Samograd) | Poor–Gravel | Check rental terms; gravel may void standard CDW |
| Village lanes (Žrnovo, Pupnat, Čara) | Narrow | Fine in a compact; avoid large vehicles |
⚠️ Inner rural roads (Pupnat, Žrnovo, Lumbarda) can be tighter for driving an SUV or minivan. Opt for a compact or mini vehicle if possible.
🅿️
Where can I park a car rental near Korčula ACI Marina and the old town?
Parking in and around Korčula Town is limited. Driving into the old town is not permitted. You can use parking options near the waterfront and around the shopping centre, with one free option uphill from town.
| Location | Distance from Marina | Rate (approx.) | Notes |
| Waterfront / Obala Vinka Paletina | Directly adjacent | ~€1.00/hr; 24hr charging in season | Closest to marina; fills fast in summer |
| Tommy Shopping Centre car park (Put sv. Luke) | ~10 min walk | ~€0.50/hr off-season; 24hr in season | More spaces; a short walk down stairs to old town; most practical for multi-hour stays |
| Ulica 45 (hilltop road) | ~10–15 min walk down steps | Free | Informal free parking; 150 steps down to old town; better for early morning; views are spectacular |
| Cemetery area | ~15 min walk | Free | Free shuttle service (electric panorama car) to old town runs in season; no dogs on shuttle |
⚠️ The waterfront bays near the marina are full by mid-morning in July and August. Arriving by 08:30 can help you get a waterfront space. You can also use the Tommy car park and walk down.
➡️
Can I pick up a car hire on Korčula and drop off on the mainland?
Yes. One-way rentals are available with both local and international suppliers. A one-way fee applies based on your chosen car type and drop-off location and varies by supplier. This fee may already be included in the quote. You can confirm the accurate charge in the rental terms when searching for deals.
| Drop-off Route | Typical Fee | Notes |
| Korčula → Dubrovnik | ~€80–180 | Via Pelješac Bridge; ~2 hrs driving after ferry |
| Korčula → Split | ~€100–200 | Via ferry Dominče–Orebić, then mainland |
| Korčula → Mostar (Bosnia) | ~€100–180 + cross-border fee | Cross-border permit required |
| Korčula → Zagreb | ~€200–350 | Long drive; usually better via Split ferry if possible |
🛂
Can I drive a rental car into Bosnia or Montenegro?
Cross-border travel is permitted by several suppliers, subject to prior written authorisation obtained before your rental begins. Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro are among the most commonly approved destinations due to their proximity to Dubrovnik and Split. An additional cross-border fee applies and varies by country. Some vehicle categories may not be entirely allowed for cross-border use.
| Country | Generally Permitted? | What You Need |
| Bosnia & Herzegovina | Most operators | Written authorisation + Green Card; popular for Mostar day trip (~200 km from Korčula via ferry) |
| Montenegro | Most operators | Written authorisation + Green Card |
| Slovenia / EU countries | Yes (EU; usually free) | Confirm with operator; e-vignette for Slovenian motorways |
| Italy (via ferry) | Most operators (with fee) | Written authorisation; ferry to Ancona/Pescara available from some Croatian ports |
🚫 Crossing international borders without the supplier’s written approval voids all insurance. You will be fully responsible for all costs related to an accident caused in unauthorised cross-border travel.
🛡️
Do I need additional insurance for cross-border car rental?
Yes. A Green Card (International Motor Insurance Certificate) is usually required to drive a Croatian rental car in Bosnia and Herzegovina or Montenegro, as both are outside the EU/EEA.
ℹ️ Make sure the supplier provides the physical Green Card document along with your rental contract before driving out of the country. You will need to present it at the border.

Car Rental Croatia
Josip Stjepan – Croatia Travel & Car Rental Specialist
Josip spent a decade coordinating vehicle logistics for Jadrolinija’s ferry network, matching rental cars to sailing schedules for Hvar, Brač, and Korčula. The job gave him insider insights into where exactly rental companies quietly pass costs onto tourists. Drawing from his extensive knowledge of Croatia’s ferry network, coastal routes, and driving conditions, he helps travellers compare rental options, plan efficient itineraries, understand toll roads, avoid unnecessary fees, and prepare for cross-border travel.
