Rental companies most commonly follow the full-to-full fuel policy. As per that, you get a car with a full tank of fuel and must return it full. Same-to-same policy is a less frequently used option offered by some companies. In any case, returning the car with less fuel than you received will incur missing-fuel charges and a service fee.
