However, please note that with a debit card, the deposit is held at the standard higher amount regardless of the insurance package selected, as there is less financial guarantee available.

• Green Card (Zelena karta): International insurance certificate extending your rental’s cover beyond Croatia. From €38, arranged at pickup (~10 min). One card covers all six permitted countries. Inform Mack of your full itinerary so it’s listed correctly, as border guards check routinely.
• IMIC: Additional certificate required for Albania, alongside the Green Card. Arranged at pickup.
• Split – Dubrovnik only: No Green Card needed — the Pelješac Bridge (2022) bypasses Bosnia entirely.

The renter is responsible for all traffic violations, parking fines, and toll charges incurred during the rental period. This applies from the moment the car is handed to the driver until the return.

Important: MACK is authorised to charge the card on file for any fines received, plus an administration fee per ticket to cover processing costs related to vehicle use, including highway tolls, bridge tolls, parking fees, and traffic violations. 

Only drivers listed on the rental contract are authorised to drive the rental car booked with Mack Croatia. An additional driver can be added for a daily fee and must be done before getting behind the wheel. Any unlisted person driving the vehicle immediately voids all insurance coverage and puts you in breach of contract.

Stop the engine immediately and do not start it again. Contact us straight away. Wrong fuel is not covered by any insurance package and all repair costs are the driver’s responsibility.

Prevention is simple: the fuel type is always marked on the fuel cap and on the key fob, so check before every fill-up.

In most cases, MACK vehicles are equipped with winter equipment including winter tyres on certain roads between 15 November and 15 April (which is mandatory during this period). If you are travelling in winter, you can also confirm directly with the supplier that the vehicle is properly equipped for your specific route.

Good to know: Daytime low-beam headlights are also mandatory throughout the winter period.

Yes, Mack Car Rental supports one-way rentals both within Croatia and across borders into neighbouring countries (such as Slovenia, Bosnia, Montenegro, and Albania). An additional one-way fee applies for such routes. Also, for international one-way car rentals, an additional cross-border fee applies. A few things to keep in mind:

• Not every vehicle category is available for one-way rentals, especially premium, luxury, and larger vehicles.
• One-way rentals are only available between eligible M.A.C.K branches. Check that your desired return location is supported.
• Certain one-way routes may have minimum rental periods or limited availability during peak travel seasons.
• For rentals between same-city branches, the one-way fee is sometimes waived off.

Yes, Mack permits the rented vehicle to be taken across international borders into neighbouring countries with prior authorisation. A cross-border fee is applicable for such routes, which is usually not included in the basic rate and is payable upon pick-up per the current price list. Here’s the complete breakdown:

Important: Keep in mind that crossing into Montenegro or Bosnia involves two separate charges: a cross-border fee (for permission to leave Croatia) and, if you’re dropping the car off at a different location or airport, an additional one-way/drop-off fee.

Yes. Mack allows rental vehicles on ferries, with a one-time ferry fee of €40.00. Note that not all island destinations actually require a ferry, Krk, Pag, and Murter are connected to the mainland by bridge, so no ferry fee applies there. The €40 fee only comes into play for true ferry-access islands like Hvar, Korčula, and Brač (Supetar).
