Good Value
11 July 2026We compared a few rental companies before booking through Croatiarentalcars. Europcar ended up being the best option. Pickup at Split Airport went well though there was a bit of waiting. Once we got the keys everything went smooth. The car used very little fuel and handled the mountain roads much better than I expected. Drop off was quick and there weren’t surprise fees afterwards which is always nice. All in all worth it.

Helpful Staff
12 June 2026This was my first time hiring with Europcar Croatia. Had few questions about crossing into Bosnia and the staff explained everything clearly and to us clearly so we had no trouble. Really appreciated their taking the time so that we avoided any hassle. The car itself was clean, comfortable and drove well for the entire trip. I’d happily use them again.

One-Way Rental
15 April 2026Booked a one-way rental from Split Airport to Zagreb because we didn’t want to drive back. Everything was explained clearly when during collection. Faced no hidden charges at drop off. The return inspection also went quite easy. Couldn’t ask for much more.

Good service
10 March 2026Landed quite late in Zagreb so I was expecting long wait times. Europcar desk was still open and the staff were friendly serving us at midnight. They explained the insurance options without any pressure. We drove mostly around the north and the car was comfortable for whole duration. Had small query during the rental and customer support resolved it quickly.

Reliable
6 March 2026Travelling with three kids can become stressful at times. But Europcar Zagreb made the car rental easy. We reserved child seats before arriving and the team helped us install it when we picked up SUV. There was plenty of room for all our luggage. We did wait a little longer than expected at the counter but after that everything was fine. Overall happy.

Great for our trip
15 February 2026Picked up Europcar rental in Pula. Spent the week exploring Rovinj, Poreč and few small villages around Istria. The car wasnt brand new but it was very clean and drove without issues. Pickup took maybe 10 minutes. Really easy and quick. Returning it back was also easy. Would definitely rent from them again.

Can tourists rent a car from Europcar using a UK, US or Australian licence?
Yes, tourists can rent a car from Europcar Croatia using a valid foreign driving licence. While the licence required depends on the country where it was issued, here’s a quick guide for travellers from the UK, the US and Australia:
| Licence Issued In | Can You Rent in Croatia? | International Driving Permit (IDP) |
| 🇬🇧 United Kingdom | ✅ Yes | Not normally required. A valid UK driving licence is generally accepted for rentals in Croatia. |
| 🇺🇸 United States | ✅ Yes | Recommended. While some travellers may be able to rent using only their US licence, carrying an IDP is strongly advised to simplify police checks and border crossings. |

Note: All drivers must also present a valid passport or photo ID and meet Europcar Croatia’s minimum age and licence requirements. Rental policies can change, so it’s worth checking the latest terms before travelling.

During vehicle collection, Europcar Croatia typically charges an estimated security deposit of the total rental estimate + 500 EUR. The deposit amount depends on:
- Your rental country
- Your vehicle category
- Whether your rental has been prepaid
- If you’ve purchased any additional protection
Note: This deposit is blocked (not charged) on your payment card to cover any potential extra costs during your rental—such as fuel, additional mileage, or late returns.
