Although the average daily rental is €30–€50, the final booking amount may vary depending on the car type, supplier, and season.

A security deposit of about €800–€1,000 is generally held temporarily by most rental companies when you pick up a car at Zagreb Airport. As long as you return the car in the same condition as it was collected and with no traffic tickets, the deposit is released in full.

The deposit is merely blocked, not charged, on the main driver’s credit card and is usually released after the vehicle is returned without damage or penalties.

Bookings without a valid credit card in the main driver’s name are either refused or cancelled by most suppliers because it is used to hold a refundable security deposit at pickup.

⚠️ Only a few suppliers may accept debit cards, which may require full protection insurance or a higher security deposit. 

The standard rental quote includes the daily base rate, Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Third Party Liability (TPL), Theft Protection (TP), VAT, and a daily kilometre allowance (sometimes unlimited). Your chosen optional extras (GPS, additional drivers, child seats, etc.), pickup location and supplier also add to the final booking price. Fuel, tolls, and parking charges are among the other factors that travellers have to budget for.
