Is a Green Card mandatory for cross-border travel?
It depends on where you’re going. A Green Card (an international proof-of-insurance document) is required for trips to non-EU neighbours such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, or North Macedonia. EU-to-EU border crossings, such as from Croatia to Slovenia or Italy, generally do not require a Green Card, since your Croatian insurance already extends across the EU.
